Hmmm. Wondering whether to get one. A bit pricey perhaps, but most good unlocked gsm smartphones are pricey at inception. Would like a 850/1900/2100 3G version, but otherwise the stats and online demos look impressive.

For my money, the best true multi-tasking smartphones currently available come from Nokia, Samsung and possibly SonyEricsson. They are the Nokia X6, Samsung i8910 HD (Omnia HD) and SonyEricsson Satio. Oh, they also all run *THE* best and most popular proper smartphone OS. -------------------- Life, it's what you make of it, isn't it... or at least it's s'posed to be :)

I have one! I'm really happy with it, but I wouldn't particularly recommend it, unless you specifically want it's openness (and I don't mean lack of sim-lock, I mean the ability to hack together your own firmware and such).
Not sure if you still care, but the brief summary: At the moment I would say it's still the best Android handest on the market, the only other one that even seems reasonably in the same ballpark is the Moto Milestone (Droid on Verizon in the US). But there seem to be quite a lot of high end Android phones coming out in the next 3-6 months, so I doubt it will remain that great. I think google basically used the Nexus One to try and set a reasonable baseline for what to expect from an Android phone. I would say the ploy has succeeded there some *really* nice looking Android phones coming, where as I would say the N1 is only a nice phone compared to the rest of the crap out there running Android now. |
